Privacy Policy

In short

• Your voice is never recorded or stored. It goes directly between the phones in your room.
• We keep only what the app needs to work. No ads, and we never sell your data.
• You can delete your account and its data at any time from Profile → “Delete my account”.

What we collect

• From Google Sign-In: your name, email address and profile photo, and a Google account ID. We do not get your Google password, contacts or any other Google data.
• What other students see: your name, your Google profile photo (you can switch it off in Profile and use an emoji instead), your subjects and class, and simple counts like sessions joined. Your email is never shown to other students.
• Your profile choices: display name, class or exam, subjects and language. If you choose “Other”, what you type there is read by the Samjhao team to improve the lists.
• Sessions you create: title, subject, time, description and topics. These are shown to other students.
• Your study progress: minutes in rooms, streak, sessions attended, teaching turns, your “recall notes” and saved sessions, so they are available on any phone you sign in on.
• Attendance: which sessions you joined, when, and for how many minutes. Your name in a session’s attendance is visible to its host and to others who were in that session (in their “Past” list).
• Study partners: people you add as study partners, and who added you. A person you add is told that you added them.
• Session feedback: your 👍/👎 rating of a session. Hosts see only the overall percentage, not who rated what (except a “found it helpful” note for 👍).
• Kudos: when someone in your room taps 💡 / ❓ / 🙌 for you, the count shows on your profile card. Who gave it is not shown to others.
• Doubts: the doubt you post and its photo are stored on our server so other signed-in students can see and explain it. Doubts leave the list after 48 hours or when you mark them solved or delete them; photos are deleted after 7 days.
• Study match: the subject and times you say you are free. Other students see your first name and photo for a matching time. Old free times are deleted after a day.
• Board photos and drawings: sent directly between the phones in the room. They are never uploaded to our server and disappear when the session ends.
• App feedback: what you write in “Send feedback”, your rating, your phone type/browser and the app version. Only the Samjhao team sees it, unless you tick “You can show my feedback and first name on the Samjhao website” – then we may show your words with your first name only. It is deleted when you delete your account.
• Anonymous usage counts: to see where new students get stuck, the app sends simple steps like “opened the app” or “joined a call” with a random code made on your phone and where you came from (for example a study guide or a WhatsApp link). We keep only a short scrambled version of that code. It is not linked to your account, and we do not store your name, email or IP address with it.
• Notifications: messages for you inside the app (new sessions in your subjects, partners going live, etc.). Deleted after 60 days.
• Safety reports you send or that are sent about you, including the reason and the IP address of the reporter (to prevent misuse).

What we do NOT collect or keep

• No voice recordings. Audio travels phone-to-phone (WebRTC) and may pass through a relay server only to connect you; it is not saved.
• In-room chat messages are not saved on our server.
• No phone number, location, contacts or photos from your phone.

How it is used

• To show your name to others in a session you join or host.
• To keep you signed in, sync your progress and show “My sessions”.
• To keep the community safe: hosts can remove people from a session, and we review reports.

Age: Samjhao is for students 13 and older

Samjhao is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. When you sign in we ask whether you are 13 or older; if you say no, you are signed out and no profile is created. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we delete it.

If you are 13–17, please use Samjhao with the knowledge of a parent or guardian. Parents can ask us to delete their child's account at any time by writing to support@atmaloop.com.

Samjhao is a voice app, so you may talk with students you do not know. You can block or report anyone from their profile card, and the host can remove people from a room. Read our Community Guidelines & Child Safety Standards.

Where data is stored & for how long

Data is stored on our web host (GoDaddy) in a MySQL database. Your account data stays until you delete your account. Old sessions may be kept for records. Sign-in tokens expire after 6 months.

Your choices

• Delete account: Profile → “Delete my account” removes your account, progress, notes and saved sessions.
• Sign out: Profile → “Sign out”.
• You can also remove Samjhao's access from your Google Account → Security → Third-party apps.
